Willem de Bruijn is without doubt one of the greatest pigeon fanciers the Netherlands has ever known. From his early years, while still running his dental practice, Willem was already a top competitor. Later, with more time to dedicate to the sport, he rose to even greater heights—constantly testing, innovating, and refining his approach to become one of the most successful names in modern pigeon racing.
His loft was originally built on pigeons from Gebr. De Wit, but the turning point came in 2005 with the legendary purchase of youngsters from Leo Heremans and Karel Ceusters. This investment proved to be a game-changer. The Heremans-Ceusters pigeons gave such an incredible boost to his breeding program that their influence can still be seen in top results across Europe to this day.
With spectacular performances year after year, Willem de Bruijn dominated the young bird races and consistently produced National Ace Pigeons and Olympiad participants. Names like 'Olympic Hurricane', 'Uranus', 'Secretariat', 'Murphy’s Law', 'Rosa', and 'Amalia' have become world-renowned. The results spoke volumes, and his exclusive auctions with De Duif regularly broke sales records—recent auctions averaged over €21,000 per pigeon, highlighting the exceptional quality in Reeuwijk.
Our relationship with Willem de Bruijn spans more than 30 years, built on mutual respect and a shared passion for top-quality pigeons. Even decades ago, champions from Reeuwijk found their way to our lofts in Brummen.
In recent years, we’ve brought in direct children of Willem’s very best to strengthen our breeding lofts. These include offspring from 'Olympic Hurricane', 'Uranus', 'Murphy’s Law', 'Secretariat', 'Phoebe', and 'Murphy’s Janneke' — all of which have already made a strong impression on our breeding results.
Most recently, in early 2024, we acquired the exceptional 'Geeloger', 1st National Ace Pigeon Allround Old & Yearlings KBDB 2023, for a significant sum. Bred by Erik Limbourg from two direct Willem de Bruijn pigeons, this superstar is a true reflection of the lasting power of Willem’s bloodlines.
